Overview

On Saturday, 30 August 2025, Theres K Agdler invited the public to participate in a collective sculpture building event ” Pandora's box in Oviken. The name of the sculpture refers to the ancient story of Pandora, who opened her box and released evil things into the world. Metaphorically transferred to Oviken and the planned mining, the sculpture aims to raise the question and discuss whether excavating the land will generate something positive or negative for society and nature.

During a performative walk to the site where the sculpture was to be built, the sculpture builders helped carry the box.

The sculpture was constructed from materials that the participants found on site.

After the sculpture was completed, the sculpture was inaugurated with a song (”kaukning”) by Óskar Freyr Guðnason. Theres K Agdler recited a text.
